EN 1063, published by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), tests and classifies the resistance of security glazing against bullet attack.

Classes

  • BR1–BR7: handgun and rifle threats
  • SG1–SG2: shotgun threats
  • NS (no splinters): no fragments released from the rear face
  • S (splinters): fragments released from the rear face

Although written for building glazing, it is also widely referenced for armoured civilian vehicle glass. This page introduces the standard in general terms; conformity of a product to a class is demonstrated within a project with test documentation.
